Forlorn Realms
When the Darkness fell, the world became an unforgiving place.

Health: Battle HP
"Stronger!? Better!? But not unbreakable!" - Even the most cherished Heroes may find their demise in a straight arrow.
- Heroes and Monsters do not become infinitely strong. Their endurance is severely limited.
- When leveling, roll and calculate your character's Max HP as usual, so the character stays compatible to other campaigns.
- But instead of the Max HP, use the new Battle HP for every creature roaming the battlefield:

Quick Lookup Table
This is the curve only. Add your class Hit Die (6 / 8 / 10 / 12).
Temporary Hit Points
All Temporary Hit Points, when applied, are halved.
Dealing Damage
"Diss swing wif mei soad will nat krasch a mauntn... but it will fell evriding schoat off a tri."
Damage is slightly reduced. But in the end, everything's more lethal now.
General Rules:
- Only rolled values count. Do NOT add any fixed boni (like STR or DEX, magical enhancements etc) to the damage of an attack.
- When a class skill or a feat gives you bonus damage, halve it.
- Halving is rounding down, but never rounded down to 0. 1 will stay 1.
Examples:
- The bonus of Power Attack (Great Weapon Master) is reduced to +5.
- Features like Two-Weapon Fighting would become useless, so they gain a new function.
- Two-Weapon Fighting now earns you the Feat Dual Wielder instead.
- (list to be extended)
Class Specific Examples:
- Barbarian: Rage damage boost will be halved.
- Rogue: Sneak Attack damage is halved.
Negative HP
"Damn! It still bleeds!"
- Keep track of negative HP.
- You also have to heal negative HP.
- At zero or less HP, you are unconscious.
Regaining Hit Points and Resting
"Just let me catch my breath..."
Expending a Hit Die
- Expending a Hit Die to regain health is a Full Round Action and thus also possible during combat.
- During your Full Round Action, you cannot act, react or move until the start of your next turn, and grant advantage to any attacker.
- At the start of your next turn, before any other effects, you will regain Hit Points and strike off one Hit Die
- You can still make use of all your passive and background abilities, like watching, listening, speaking etc.
- You can choose to interrupt this specific Full Round Action at any time:
- returning your reaction
- no langer granting advantage to your enemies
- you will not regain any Hit Points
- you will not lose a Hit Die.
Long Rests
- Long rests will restore spent Hit Dice euqal to your character level.
- They will not restore lost Hit Points automatically.
- You can expend your available Hit Dice at any time during the rest.
- For each full uninterrupted hour of sleep, you will regain about one sixth of your Hit Dice, also depending on your comfort.
- After six hours of sleep, you lose one level of Exhaustion.
-
This table is just an example for a normal comfort level (Survival DC 13):
| Level | After hour |
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| 1 | | | | | | 1 |
| 2 | | | 1 | | | 1 |
| 3 | | 1 | | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 4 | | 1 | | 1 | | 1 |
| 5 | | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 6 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 7 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 8 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
Short Rests
- Short rests still require you to hunker down for an hour of uninterrupted peace and quiet.
Crafting
"I have this little side project I should tell you about..."
Crafting is now less time-consuming
- Instead of the normal eight hours, you can accomplish your daily task on a quiet evening.
- If one or more persons aid you in your effort, you can even accomplish two days' worth of work in one evening.
- Any other prerequisites to crafting still apply.
- Remember though: You might make more noise than is healthy for you.
